Chrissy Murderbot’s ‘Bussin’ Down’ to be released by Planet Mu
Have you ever tried to juke? Juking is not only a genre of music but also a dance style, both of which originated in Chicago. Even if you think you can dance, you probably can’t juke. Chrissy Murderbot however, gives me hope that one day I’ll be able to juke it on the dance floor.
I’m not sure what it is about the Midwest that cultivates dance music like this, but I’m certainly glad we’re a hotbed for it. Chrissy Murderbot is a Chicago transplant whose bouncy beats and blog My Year of Mixtapes, where he recorded a mixtape every week, launched him into the limelight. Now Chrissy’s ready to release his first single on Planet Mu. Bussin’ Down is a veritable homage to the Midwest juke and footwork scene. Working with footwork great DJ Spinn and MC Zulu on the single, Bussin’ Down boasts a well-crafted melange of juke, footwork, R&B, and dancehall. To put it simply, Murderbot’s new single will get your feet moving and makes you want to hear what else the man has in store. Bussin’ Down is just a taste of what’s to come. Chrissy Murderbot’s proper full-length Women Studies is due out soon on the label. Better invest in some juking lessons kids.
