SyFy movies in theaters?

Have you ever been sitting at home watching “Manotaur” on a Saturday night? Did you wish you could watch it on the silver screen? Well, fear not, because SyFy Channel movies are coming to theaters.

According to Joblo.com, Universal (which owns the network) has inked a deal to release two films a year in theaters starting in 2012. In theory this is a savvy move, because the films cost roughly nothing to make, and just for sheer camp appeal will probably turn an immediate profit. The biggest obstacle is finding the right pitch; to try and sell these movies to the mainstream would be business suicide, because it takes a person cut from a very specific kind of cloth to see “Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus” in a video store and realize its importance.

Speaking of which… (potentially NSFW)
