Grammy noms announced, old people love Eminem

Last night, the Recording Academy released their list of nominations for the 2011 Grammy awards, and predictably, there’s a whole list of WTF on tap, starting with the 13 nominations for Eminem’s Recovery. It’s a good album, and at least (unlike on Relapse) Slim sounds like he’s trying again, but 13? That’s not as egregious as the Album of the Year nomination for Katy Perry’s Teenage Dream. Or the fact that Lady Gaga released an elongated EP and it’s up for Album of the Year.

That said, there’s the “Hey, we know about cool bands also!” nominees, like an Album nod for Arcade Fire’s The Suburbs and Florence + The Machine getting noted in Best New Artist, an award that pretty much has to go to Drake if there’s any justice in the world. The full list is below, and as a bonus, Spike Jonze’s incredibly creepy video for “The Suburbs,” if you haven’t seen it yet.
