Pride and Prejudice and Zombies lands director

A number of filmmakers have been circling the film adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith’s revisionist-lit hit “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies” for a while now. At one point, notoriously flaky director David O. Russell was showing interest, but backed off; David Slade (30 Days of Night) and Mike Newell (Prince of Persia) were also circling the property.

Now, writer-director Mike White has officially stepped up to tackle the Jane Austen-zombie fusion. White, who’s best known as the awkward roommate in School of Rock (he also wrote the film) or as the writer of numerous episodes of the cult TV show “Freaks and Geeks,” will likely begin shooting sometime next year. The question now is, who will be his heroines? It’s not a Jane Austen adaptation without a plucky female lead or three.
